20130923 Fourth Seer of Fatima 雅莉娜接受痛苦

Blessed Alexandrina Maria da Costa (1904-1955) was a mystic and a victim soul. She was called the “fourth seer of Fatima”.

Victim soul

Alexandrina was born on March 30, 1904 in Balasar, Portugal. In June 1832, a cross appeared on the ground in front of the parish church in Balasar. Jesus revealed to Alexandrina, “a century ago, I ordained that this parish be privileged with a cross as a sign of the crucifixion. The cross was ready, it only wanted a victim. But now I have chosen one to fulfill my divine plans; it is you.”

The victimhood of Alexandrina began on Holy Saturday 1918. Alexandrina and two other girls were at home when three men broke into the house to molest them. Alexandrina escaped by jumping from the window. She fell twelve feet on to hard ground, and came back to the house with a piece of wood to defend the other girls. The man fled, but the spine of Alexandrina was irreparably injured. At the age of 20, Alexandrina was completely paralyzed and became bedridden.

At first Alexandrina prayed for a cure, but later she realized that suffering was going to be her vocation. She also realized that Jesus was a prisoner in the tabernacle, just as she was a prisoner in her bed of pain. Alexandrina begged Jesus to accept her as a victim and agreed to suffer as much as she could endure for the conversion and salvation of sinners.

After offering herself as victim, Alexandrina’s pain increased greatly. She offered up her suffering using the prayer taught by Our Lady in Fatima: “O Jesus, this is for the love of you, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

In 1931, Alexandrina experienced her first ecstasy. Jesus confirmed her vocation as a victim soul by saying, “Love, suffer and make reparation.”

Intense suffering

On September 6, 1934, Alexandrina received an invitation from Jesus, “Give me your hands, because I want to nail them with mine. Give me your feet, because I want to nail them to my feet. Give me your head, because I want to crown it with thorns as they did to me. Give me your heart, because I want to pierce it with a lance as they pierced mine. Consecrate your body to me; offer yourself wholly to me … Help me in the redemption of mankind.”

Alexandrina gave her consent to the invitation of Jesus, and she experienced a period of even more intense suffering. She experienced the attacks of the devil, and began to see terrifying visions and hear blasphemous cries. Satan frequently urged Alexandrina to end her suffering by committing suicide. Alexandrina overcame these trials by obeying her spiritual director.

Jesus explained to Alexandrina the importance of her suffering, “My daughter, suffering is the key to Heaven. I have endured so much to open Heaven to all mankind, but for many it was in vain. They say ‘I want to enjoy life, I have come into the world only for enjoyment.’ They say ‘Hell does not exist.’ I have died for them, and they say they did not ask me to do so. They have formed heresies against me. In order to save them, I select certain souls and lay the cross on their shoulders. Happy the soul who understands the value of suffering! My cross is sweet if carried for love of me … I chose you from your mother’s womb. I watch over you in your great difficulties. It was I who chose them for you, that I might have a victim to offer me much reparation. Lean on my Sacred Heart and find therein strength to suffer everything.”

20130916 Pope consecrated Russia 教宗奉獻俄國

On July 13, 1917, Our Lady predicted that she would come to ask for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart.

Grace and mercy
On June 13, 1929, Sister Lucia of Fatima had an important vision at her convent in Tuy, Spain. She wrote, “I had sought and obtained permission from my superiors and confessor to make a Holy Hour from 11 o’clock until midnight every Thursday-to-Friday night.
“Being alone one night, I knelt near the altar rails in the middle of the chapel and, prostrate, I prayed the prayers of the angel. Feeling tired, I then stood up and continued to say the prayers with my arms in the form of a cross. The only light was that of the sanctuary lamp.
“Suddenly the whole chapel was illuminated by a supernatural light, and above the altar appeared a cross of light, reaching to the ceiling. In a brighter light on the upper part of the cross could be seen the face of a man, and his body as far as the waist; upon his breast was a dove of light; nailed to the cross was the body of another man.
“A little below the waist, I could see a chalice and a large host suspended in the air, onto which drops of blood were falling from the face of Jesus crucified and from the wound in His side. These drops ran down onto the host and fell into the chalice.
“Beneath the right arm of the cross was Our Lady, and in her hand was her Immaculate Heart. (It was Our Lady of Fatima, with her Immaculate Heart in her left hand, without sword or roses, but with a crown of thorns and flames.) Under the left arm of the cross large letters, as if of crystal clear water, which ran down upon the altar, formed these words: ‘Grace and Mercy.’
“I understood that it was the Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity which was shown to me, and I received lights about this mystery which I am not permitted to reveal.
“Our Lady then said to me: ‘The moment has come in which God asks the Holy Father, in union with all the bishops of the world, to make the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, promising to save it by this means.
“There are so many souls whom the justice of God condemns for sins committed against me that I have come to ask reparation: sacrifice yourself for this intention and pray.”
The vision is a summary of the essentials of our Catholic Faith, and the message from Our Lady concerns the future of the world.
In 1948 Sister Lucia transferred from the Sisters of St. Dorothy to the Carmelite community in Coimbra, Portugal, where she lived out the message of Fatima as a contemplative nun for the rest of her life.

Consecration by Pope
Pope John Paul II, with the bishops of the world, consecrated the world and Russia to the Immaculate Heart on March 25, 1984.
In the summer of 1989 Father Robert Fox, the editor of the Immaculate Heart Messenger, publicized that Sister Lucia had said that God had accepted the collegial consecration of March 25, 1984, and “the Lord will keep His word.”
Then, in the fall of 1989, the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe began.
Sister Lucia died on Feb. 13, 2005, at the age of 97. Before breathing her last, she said, “For the Holy Father! … Our Lady, Our Lady, Holy Angels, Heart of Jesus, Heart of Jesus! We are going, we are going.”
“Where?” asked Mother Celina.
“To heaven….”
“With whom?” asked Mother Celina.
“With Our Lord … Our Lady … and the little shepherds.”

20130909 Lucia consoled the Immaculate Heart 路濟亞安慰聖母聖心

On May 13, 1917, Our Lady said to Lucia, “You will have much to suffer, but the grace of God will comfort you.” Within a few years of the apparitions, Lucia experienced the sadness of loneliness.

Death of loved ones
Francisco died on April 4, 1919. Lucia wrote, “I cannot describe how I miss him. This grief is a sad thorn pricking my heart for endless years.”
After the death of Francisco, Lucia’s father also died. He was a strong man, but within 20 hours double pneumonia suddenly ended his life.
Lucia shouted alone in her room, “My God, my God, I never imagined you had in store for me so much suffering! But I will suffer this for your love, in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the Holy Father, and for the conversion of sinners.”
The health of Jacinta was worsening, and it was decided she would go to Lisbon for treatment. After the departure of Jacinta, Lucia went away and hid in a rocky cave to relieve her grief alone with God by shedding copious tears.
Jacinta died on Feb. 20, 1920. The Fatima church bells began to toll. Lucia knew that the tolling must be for the death of Jacinta. She ran away to a lonely place and flung herself upon the ground and wept as if her heart would break. It was only towards nightfall that she returned home, her eyes red from crying.
For a long time the sadness of Lucia seemed to grow greater and greater. When the cemetery was open, she would spend long hours sitting close to Francisco’s or her father’s tombstone.

First Saturdays
The bishop decided to send Lucia to a school at Oporto run by the Sisters of St. Dorothy. With a heavy and sorrowful heart, Lucia left Fatima on June 16, 1921.
In 1925, Lucia joined the order of St. Dorothy.
On Dec. 10, 1925, Our Lady appeared to Lucia with the Infant Jesus. Our Lady said, “Look, my daughter, at my heart, surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce me at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude.
“You at least try to console me, and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturdays of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the rosary, and keep me company for 15 minutes while meditating on the 15 mysteries of the rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.”
The infant Jesus told Lucia on Feb. 15, 1926, that people can go to confession on another day other than the first Saturday, provided they are in the state of grace when receiving Communion and have the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
On the night between May 29 and 30, 1930, Our Lord revealed that the purpose of the five first Saturdays devotion is to make reparation for the five ways in which people offend and blaspheme against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

— People blaspheme against the Immaculate Conception.
— People blaspheme against her Virginity.
— People blaspheme against her Divine Maternity, refusing to accept her as the Mother of all mankind.
— People try publicly to implant in children’s hearts indifference, contempt, and even hatred for this Immaculate Mother.
— People insult her sacred status directly.

Our Lord also told Lucia that the practice of this devotion would be equally accepted on the Sunday after the first Saturday, when, for just motive, priests allow it.

  1. 攻擊聖母的始胎無玷;
  2. 攻擊聖母的卒世童貞;
  3. 攻擊聖母為天主之母的道理,並拒絕接受她是世人的母親;
  4. 公然在兒童心中播下對無玷聖母的冷漠、輕視、和仇恨;
  5. 在聖母聖像前辱罵聖母。

20130902 Little Jacinta offered sacrifices 小雅仙達奉獻犧牲

Blessed Jacinta Marto was deeply impressed by the secret of Fatima given on July 13, 1917. The first part of the secret was the vision of hell, the second part was the devotion to the Immaculate Heart, and the third part was the suffering of the Holy Father. The secret shaped the spiritual life of little Jacinta.

Concern for sinners
Jacinta was greatly impressed by the vision of hell. Frequently she sat and meditated, and would cry out, “Hell! Hell! How sorry I am for the souls that are going to hell! And people burn there alive, like wood in fire!” Sometimes she said, “So many falling into hell! So many in hell!”
To reassure Jacinta, Lucia said, “Don’t be afraid. You are going to heaven!” Jacinta answered, “Yes, I am going there, but I also want everyone to go there!” At times Jacinta would not eat in order to offer her sacrifice for sinners who eat too much.
Even when sick, Jacinta would go to Mass on weekdays. Lucia said, “Jacinta, don’t. You aren’t able, and it’s not Sunday today.”
Jacinta answered, “It doesn’t matter. I will go for sinners who don’t go even on Sundays.”

Heart of Mary
Jacinta had a great devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She said to Lucia, “That lady said that her Immaculate Heart was your refuge and the road which will lead you to God. Aren’t you thrilled! Her heart is so good and I love it!”
Jacinta’s favourite ejaculatory prayer was “Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation.” Sometimes Jacinta picked flowers in the fields and sang with a tune she had just made up: “Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation! Immaculate Heart of Mary, convert sinners, save souls from hell!”

The Holy Father
Jacinta had a great love for the Holy Father. One day she had a vision of the Pope. She said, “I saw the Holy Father in a very large house, kneeling before a table with his face in his hands. He was crying. Many people were in front of the house; some were throwing stones, while others were cursing him and using foul language. Poor Holy Father. We need to pray a lot for him!”
Another time she said, “Don’t you see many highways, so many roads, and fields full of dead people trickling blood? So many people weeping with hunger, for they have nothing to eat? And the Holy Father praying in a church before the Immaculate Heart of Mary? And many people praying with him?”
At her beatification ceremony in 2000, Pope John Paul II thanked Jacinta for praying and making sacrifices for the Holy Father.

Sickness and death
Our Lady appeared to Jacinta and foretold that she would go to Lisbon to a hospital, die alone, and be taken into heaven.
When Jacinta left for Lisbon, she hugged Lucia’s neck for a long time and said, crying, “We shall never meet again. Pray for me a lot until I go to heaven, and afterwards I will pray a lot for you…. Love Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary a great deal, and make many sacrifices for sinners.”
In Lisbon, Our Lady visited Jacinta. She told Jacinta that:
The sins which lead most people to hell are sins of impurity.
Luxuries have to be put aside.
People must not be obstinate in sin, as they had been until then.
People must perform great penances.
The Heart of Jesus wishes the Heart of Mary to be venerated at His side. Let them ask for peace through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for God has given it to her.
